Weight Bars are very cool and build muscle I got these on amazon it come 5 lbs to 25lbs. Use like a barbell . Many ways to build muscle in the shoulder or arm and back. Youtube has great videos to try.

Resistance bands the absolute flexibity to gain arm strength and work any parts of the body even upper and lower back. As mentioned youtube has cool video exercises. There are so many brand all are great choices
and weights are best for hand/wrist and upper arm strength. You can find many dumbbell workout with posters and lots of flashcards of workout on amazon or on youtube. Brand name are different as main thing is if the grip of the weight is comfortable using. Only go with the resistance you can handle not to overdue and cause pain or strain.
If your new I go with 3lbs-5lbs
If you can handle resistance than I move up with 5lbs to 8lbs to max 10lbs.
workout logs or workout journals are the best way to go because you if track your cardio or exercise activity it lead up to the hard work out in. I would suggest having one for workout and tracking weight, repetitions, pounds used and breaks. Even journals are great to track your thoughts or ideas in which you feel to attain or achieve if you set goals to succeed.
